Despite the advertising you might have seen, the 100% French mortgages offer is only available for French residents. The 100% French Mortgages offered to non-residents are actually investment products which require you to deposit with the lender at least 30% of the value of the mortgage in cash. We think these products are often misrepresented because they are in effect only 70% mortgages. There are certain circumstances where these 100% non-resident French mortgages are appropriate and we’re happy to advise on them but don’t be deceived, if you really need to borrow 100% of the value of the property they are not appropriate.
